Broken Earth

May 17th Session
Fighting Those Dam Bugs

Last session we pressed deeper into the dam. I first checked out the hole in the room with the weak floor and found some kind of utility room. There were tools in there, so I snagged them. They will need some cleaning up, but they should work just fine.

Then we found some stairs that went to a corridor with rooms off the side. We killed more cockroaches in this hallway before comming to a door at the end.

This door opened up into a large corridor with lots of machines and thigs. Our Not Posh guide thought these were what we were looking for, but a voice from the darkness challenged us. Upon exploration, we found the voice was coming from a dude in a robe surrounded by lots more giant roaches. He thought he was some sort of roach master. We tried to parlay with him, but that didn’t go over too well. In the end, he turned out to be the master of our provisions. We got lots of food reserves out of the roaches we killed in there.

Doc and Grumpus wouldn’t let me cut up the Roach Master for steaks, though. Just no pleasing some people. He turned out to be a Burned One, so Polly might have had a problem with that. Maybe it was for the best not cutting steaks out of him, but I still think Polly might have been fine with extra helpings of roach.

It’s going to take a few trips back and forth to cart the dam parts we need to our place. I’m hoping we can delegate that to some others. I’m anxious to get out and check for those raider guys. Not knowing where they are is really starting to bug me.

Building Our Community

This last session was primarily spent learning how to build up our community. It was in interesting time learning the ins and outs of community management. We bought some food from the Wright Brothers caravan to help stay ahead of our growing needs. Doc laid the groundwork for the furtherance of his alcohol habit and I planted some mushrooms to begin my rise as a supplier of formerly controlled substances.

The not posh woman, Chelsea, showed us that she could go into a building and shrink down to appear inside the talking flashlight. It was magic. She then traveled down a coiled wire into an even smaller box that when she was in it, we had to say “over” to her a lot. I didn’t make the rules.

I went out scouting within half a days hike from our settlement, but found no sign of encroachment from the bad guys. We did find four more folks who wanted to join our burgeoning community. Even more may show up next month.

Although, I am eager to get out and explore further to be certain where those bad guys are, and possibly take their heads from that place to another place, we as a group decided that it would be better to get the dam up and working so we can travel between the magic shrunken boxes with more ease. We went to another nearby dam to find some of the bits we need to fix our dam. There we met with some dinner. I don’t really know what the dam thing is all about, but at least it is a chance to explore. Looking forward to more of that.

And, if we do it right, Doc may get to use the towel some more, though I’m not certain he knows what to do with it. Humans can be weird.

Trading in Wright Town

I thought we had a great session last night. Connie was happy to be able to sort of ease into the system a bit. She thinks it will help her not get overwhelmed, and she rocks in combat. The burst wolves were a neat enemy to fight.

Trading in Wright Town went well, I thought. We secured the release of Cray and convinced her sister to come along, so we have a jump on the next generation of our community as well. We secured 300 foods and two horses, along with the tools and weapons we were able to salvage from the bygone Axe Camp. We also made some important connections with both Cal and Jack Wright and the secretive Lem, seed stock is well in hand. We are down one revolver, but I think the horses will make up for that in the work they will be able to do.

We learned that the area across the river from Wright Town was good for salvage, but subject to Wright approval.

At the end of this session we talked about return to Rapid Town and scouting for evidence of the threat from raiders close to home. All information along those lines will be good information.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
